Well we know what the Celestis are, they're the Interventionists who seceded from the Homeworld (and history) to escape the War. That along with their frequent role as a neutral party with individuals working for both sides and the fact that there's even a distinction between the Celestis and the enemy as factions does basically rule them out as the enemy.

Which could be explained by the distinction between the Celestis proper and the "remembered" versions of the Celestis manifest from the Shift's memories.
What this suggests is that some links in the logical chain that leads to the conclusion "the Gods are the Enemy" might be flawed, or might have different explanations…

Ehhhhhhhhh I dunno, "the enemy are the manifestation of the Shift's memories of the Celestis" is a bit too Ancestor Celly for my taste. Ooooooh, do you have any examples of those different explanations? Because ngl, I sort of just took "the Gods are the enemy" as given.

Ooooooh, do you have any examples of those different explanations? Because ngl, I sort of just took "the Gods are the enemy" as given. Well the Gods were the Peoples gods before God was built. And gods are made in the image of there creators and Lawrence Miles has been very explicit in saying the People are not the Enemy. Of course if the people are the half rembers recreation of the enemy that would suggest they only manifested in the image of the enemy. I remember a discussion on some old forum that linked the Gods to MEPHISTO from down and suggest that by freeing MEPHISTO Benny released the Gods and some people suggest that MEPHISTO may be the enemy I do not agree. but I would like to suggest there is some hint that Shift is somehow linked to the origin of the enemy, the planet he finds bares a strong resemblance to Faraway and to the planet of the Kings of Space. So the Remembered Gods may be somehow linked to the Gods the Gods are not clear cut the enemy. But they are at the very least somehow linked to the First message from the Enemy. The Enemy’s shadow may be glimpsed here I however am still, unsure of its shape. but I must conclude that there is definitely some link between Faraway, the Kings of Space, MEPHISTO, the Gods, the Celestis and the Enemy. What that conception is may be hard to tell. I know not but there is definitely links between them all.

"John", who seems to know quite a few details about the true nature of the Gods. What story is John from?
