Hello, I'm Jonathan. I got into reading Faction Paradox from Alien Bodies. My favorite FP story for today at least is This Town Will Never Let Us Go. A lot to unpack there. Favorite Non-FP books, I've read a lot of Iain Banks lately as well as a few Black Archives. My username? It's obvious really.

Hello, I'm visiting here from an announcement of a planned book club for The Book of the War, one of my favorite FP works. I hadn't realized there were enough people to get things started with an independent set of forums, which I think is great, I'm glad FP has that cultural momentum. I sometimes post on an Evil Renegade forum under the identity of Desert Kris.
I got into FP by way of Alien Bodies. I re-read it a couple months ago, as part of a literature-supported marathon of the Evil Renegade universe, watching the old version, filling in the blanks of adventures erased from existence by reading the Target documents from the Eleven-Day Empire's Stacks library. I've filled in the wilderness years with comics and key novels like the Seventh Evil Renegade novel Love and War, and Alien Bodies to represent the novels of the Eighth incarnation of the Renegade. Then transitioned to The Book of the War to represent a version of the time war.
For a while now I've fallen behind on the FP material though. I really liked the anthologies by Obverse, and catching up a little with the first couple of City of the Saved anthologies. After so long, I recently started dabbling directly into the FP with The Book of the Enemy, starting with some of the shorter stories (I'm a slow reader, so my backlog has built up and I really feel the need to ease myself back into things. TBotE has been very fascinating! Although some of the nuances and obscure connections go over my head, and my reflexes are too slow to catch them as they go over my head!

Hey, Constonks here - if anyone's on Divergent Universe or the Doctor Who side of Twitter, that's what I'm called there too.
The only Faction material I've read is Alien Bodies and Unnatural History but the book club sounds like the perfect excuse to finally read the Book of the War.

Hi, I'm Neo! I've wanted to read The Book of the War for ages, and the book club here looks like a great way to do it.
I can't really remember how I first learned about Faction Paradox. It was definitely before I actually read Alien Bodies. It was probably just general online bubblings in Doctor Who fandom, in fact it might have been Nate himself. I've also read some of the Lawrence Miles stuff outside of Faction Paradox (like About Time). I have friends who've ventured much further into Faction Paradox and chatted about it with me, but I don't think I've ever gone further than Alien Bodies and a couple of scattered short stories myself. I'm sure I've seen The Book of the War extolled as something one can enter into from any point in their Faction Paradox journey, so I'm eager to delve in!
By virtue of having only really engaged with Alien Bodies, that'd currently be my favourite FP story, but I really like the sound of some of the more standalone novels in the range. In these sort of Doctor Who and adjacent spheres, I really like series where there's not an expectation of stories all drawing from a particular well of characters, or following certain structures, but where things are much more freeform and standalone like that (it's a big part of why I prefer the Torchwood audios to most else Big Finish, for example). So I'd love to check out some more FP novels in future, since they sound interestingly varied.

Hello everyone. I’m new to the forum but I’ve been a fan of Faction Paradox for many years; I read “Alien Bodies” around the same time I heard the first two “Protocols” audios, and I became, very soon after, absolutely captivated with the stand-alone novels. I’ve since fallen in love with all of Lawrence Miles’ writings, and I live in eternal hope that he will get back to writing and publishing sometime soon.
Years ago, I had the honour of interviewing Stuart Douglas of Obverse Books for the fanzine “Enlightenment” (which was still being published at the time), and we have struck up an online friendship over the years. I was one of the first people to review “A Romance in 12 Parts”, and I’m one of the biggest supporters/champions of Obverse’s Faction Paradox revival over the past decade or so. Having said that, I still love the classics; I have a tendency to carry around my copy of The Book of the War wherever I go - it’s one of my absolute favourite things in the world to just open it up at random and read an arbitrary entry at any given time!
For the better part of 20 years now I have been a huge audio aficionado. I own pretty much everything that Big Finish has ever produced, as well as the complete catalogue of many smaller audio producers, including BBV, Magic Bullet, Cosmic Hobo/Bafflegab, Radio Static and so on. I have a large number of BBC audios – both “Doctor Who” and non-“Doctor Who” related. I also collect many non-“Doctor Who” related audio lines, such as the Warhammer Black Library.
The point is that I know what I’m talking about when it comes to scripted audio shows. And I have to say that the twelve original Faction Paradox audios, written by Lawrence Miles and produced first by BBV and then Magic Bullet, are some of the absolute best audio dramas I have ever heard. Miles’ writing is incredibly tight in both series, and although the production values are definitely superior in the Magic Bullet series (plus, they have Gabriel Woolf!), both series feature phenomenal performances and incredibly rich soundscapes.
So between these phenomenal audios, fantastic Doctor Who-related materials such as “Alien Bodies”, “Interference” and “The Shadow of Avalon”, and the explosion of a new, stand-alone world in the pages of “The Book of the War”, “This Town Will Never Let Us Go” and “Of The City Of The Saved”, I felt the same way I had felt only once before in my life…and that was when I had first discovered Doctor Who two and a half decades previously.
Which brings me to my username. I guess I feel it somewhat appropriate to use the name of a story that “might have been”. Like the way the Faction uses the skeletons of creatures that could have existed (but didn’t) for their armour, so is “Foefromthefuture” a relic from a timeline that never was.
I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing YOUR stories. Until then…

Hi eveyone, I am called Avenlear. I got into Faction Paradox via copious amounts of TARDIS wiki browsing as well as exploring the Eighth Doctor novels. So far I have read Book of the War and am currently reading both This Town will Never let us go & the Book of the Enemy.

I'm redoing my introduction, as my initial one was totally empty.
Hi👋 I'm Cousin Ettolrahc (or Ettolrhc) (the fact I'm technically a Little Sister here for now is just more proof of my Paradox) and I love all things Paradox-related (extending beyond the FP franchise itself, but mainly FP). You may know me from my Tumblr blog, and I have recently began editing the wiki, and I am reasonably active over on the discord server.
My favourite FP story is (currently) Interference, however bear in mind that it has changed every time I've read a story so far. My favourite Who non-FP story is probably "World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls", and my favourite non-Who story is "Good Omens". So far I've found this community to be very welcoming, and I hope this continues onto this site, if I can bear to use it on mobile (I understand it's difficult it make sites look lovely for mobile and desktop, this isn't an attack just me being a youngster who's never used old-fashioned forums before 😂)

Hi there!
Never been on a Forum before despite my age so bear with me as I get the hang of it haha
I’m also very new to the world of Faction Paradox! I’ve been a Doctor Who fan since I was 13, so roughly 12 years ago, and the Extended Universe was always something I dipped my toes in — Big Finish, certain comics, etc. — but I never jumped in the way I could’ve! Recently, in the last couple years, I decided it was time to head to the deep end and so far I’ve gotten into a lot more, but Faction Paradox was always this sort of white whale in the corner of my eye. I had a Google Docs link to The Book of War saved in my Tumblr drafts for ages, and a few weeks ago decided it was time!
It’s been a slow read only because I’m reading it in short bursts while taking public transit, but I’m really digging it so far! A lovely individual on Tumblr told me I should check out the forum so here I am!!
The name I chose was kind of a spur of the moment decision as I’ve noticed the names of the Cousins seem to play with biblical names at times and my friends and I have a strange “only funny if you were there” inside joke about Leviticus so it felt appropriate haha!
I look forward to reading more FP stories and sharing thoughts and what not with ya’ll!

Hullo everyone, I'm brand new Faction Paradox. I've only read a handful of the books (you'll find out which ones by the art I post). I've listened to most of the audios. I'm slowly making my way through The Book of The War, I like picking entries at random and following a thread.
I'm a horror guy. My favourite Doctors are 4 and 12.
I really love the way FP plays in the space that Dr Who created, playing into more mythic, occult, and abstract spaces. I'm into Mesoamerica so it's integration into the lore and universe appeals to me.

It's been a spell since anyone has intro'ed, so I guess it falls to me, as well, I am, for all intents and purposes, the new chap. So, here goes.. Hullo, I'm Dr W00fW00f. I love WHO up to the TV Movie. Obsessed with dogs, esp. Mini Schnauzers and Chinese Cresteds.
First encountered the FP back when they first came into view in the EDA, Lawrence Miles' ALIEN BODIES. Loved the concept and all it stood for. Thereafter, I have devoured all the other Faction appearances in the EDAs. I've sought out and listened to all the FP Protocols, as was Magic Bullet Production's THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE FP (which I find to be so, so superior to the FP PROTOCOLS, even tho there are things about the PROTOCOLS that I quite like!). While I own a copy of the FP "Holy Bible", THE BOOK OF THE WAR, I still have not read it all the way through; What I have read has been known to make my brain, not to mention my timeline, itch something fierce!). Something Faction-related I own, and am very proud of despite it not really being worth much, is the first two issues of the unfinished FP comic series. In addition to all that, I have reada few of the Norwegian Press ebooks and most of the Obverse Books ones.
Last year, as I began getting into collection LEGO minifigures of some of my favorite characters, I decided to make a custom FP figure. I will have to take a pic and show it next time.
I'm really excited as my wife found me a very Faction-esque mask for next to nothing (!) on TEMU. This weekend I am going to Renaissance Faire down in VA. I plan on wearing the mask, and some clothes that may go along with it (if it looks good, I will be sure to show pictures). Right now, i am trying to come up with my own Faction name, rather than borrowing one already in existence. Was thinking of Cousin Sombras ("shadows" in Spanish). If anyone thinks that's lame, and has a better name, I am totally open to suggestions.
Non-FP reading: I'm a comic nerd. X-Men are my Jam! Laura Kinney (X-23) is my fav mutant!

Hello! Just realized I forgot to make an introductory post when I first joined a few months ago lol. Well, now that I've properly started to read the books and can start browsing the forum without being *completely* confused: ~ Pronouns: She/her or they/them; discovered I was nonbinary during the pandemic [insert nonbinary + aro ace pride flag here] ~ how you got into Faction Paradox - You know, I can't for the life of me remember who, exactly, I heard about it from first, but one of the small discords I was in had people talking about the EDAs and mentioned Faction Paradox offhandedly. I kept catchling glimpses of conversation mentioning things, but most intriguing was the fanart!
I still have not read the EDAs because um. 70+ books is rather intimidating lol. So I decided to see what all the fuss was about and read the book of the war and. uh, to say I was hooked would be an understatement.
I am now reading the Faction Paradox books............ without having read any of the EDAs or VNA, or other expanded universe Doctor Who books (yet. I'll get to them eventually) outside of randomly reading The Infinity Doctors. I've been informed this is a very Based decision, reading-order wise, but it'll work out in the end XD
~ what some of your favorite FP stories are -
So far I've read The Book of the War, This Town Will Never Let Us Go, Of The City of the Saved, Dead Romance (FP edition), Warlords of Utopia, and am currently reading Warring States. of all of the books so far, my favorite is Of The City Of The Saved , but I really enjoyed Dead Romance and Warlords of Utopia is in second place. The Book of the War is #1 for being just a great intro, but I wouldn't count it in the novel ranking.
~ what some of your favorite non-FP stories are -
my favorite Doctor Who episode is either Midnight or Partners in Crime, and some of my favorite non-DW-related medias are Quantum Leap (the original 1980s), Books of the Raksura by Martha Wells, and Babylon 5 !
~ or why you chose your username -
My Username was actually inspired by having to make a PSN (playstation network) username and using the backstory for my Elder Scrolls Online character -- a time traveling vampire who "walks the ages" when traveling between the different zones (because you can interact with different parts of the Main Questline at different times depending on where you're at), which suits most fandom sites just fine lol. If I had to pick a new name for the Faction I have honestly no clue what I would come up with.

Hey, found the place looking for information on Book of Taliesin out of personal curiosity, recognise a few of you already but its always good to have another port of call. (Well, I don't check forums too often but useful to have). Introduction, I'm Thien Valdram, aspiring amateur writer and aspiring amateur FP fan, wrote "The Dinosaur in the Snow" for the Book of the Snowstorm by Arcbeatle but that's really all so far.
To the questions How you got into Faction Paradox? I am always interested in the more esoteric, less well known but more creative sections of fandom but decided to watch Classic Who, didn't stop at the ending, went through the VNAs and then the EDAs. Would like to think I'm able to at least keep up with FPs lore even though I've only actually done the audios and Dead Romance (And the EDAs)
What some of your favorite FP stories are? To choose between Protocols/True History or Dead Romance? Difficult one, I think I'll probably go with Dead Romance but I loved both. (Also Alien Bodies and Interference)
What some of your favorite non-FP stories are? New Who, Heaven Sent (To get the most cliche answer out of the way first), for Classic, probably War Games. Non-TV Doctor Who, Scherzo, The Room With No Doors, Also People. Non-Doctor Who, partial to the Half Life Universe, the JP/W films and various other bits and bobs across the wider media space.
Why you chose your username. And here's another one. Halo was the series I got into Sci-Fi on and my username is a distortion of 'Thel Vadam', the Arbiter from Halo 2.

Oh yes, introductions. I forgot about one of these when I made my account back whenever it was. (I don't think I've actually posted on here, at any rate, so this'll be my introductory post). Yes, so, as those of you know me from the wiki and Discord will know, I'm Aquanafrahudy (named for a character from one of my many books who I happened to like the name of - this is actually a shortening of the original name, which basically came out of me banging on the keyboard a bit (I was eight at the time)). Anyhow, I try to write stuff occasionally, and sometimes it's Faction Paradox adjacent, I wrote "The Goblin, the Witch, and the Kitchen Sink" for the aforementioned Book of the Snowstorm, and a bunch of vignettes for the same, and some of them were Faction Paradox-y. (The dream, of course, is to write for FP proper, and I'm still holding out hope for that).
Anyhow, I first learnt of Faction Paradox very early on, when I was first getting into Who, I found it's Wikipedia page, and I didn't really know what it was, and I wouldn't for a while until I found Tardis Wiki, which was really very good for getting into it, oh, and something recommended Alien Bodies as a good EDA, so that was my second EDA, and I liked it. I also did Interference Part 1, and later Erasing Sherlock and the audios, and I've read the crossovers in Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids (and indeed the rest of The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids). I also did the comics quite early on, I think they may have been some of my first FP stuff, I found them a bit incomprehensible the first time round. Oh, and I read Down the Middle fairly recently, as well. So, a very random collection of stuff. When the new website came up, I read that lot of stuff too, because why not. Oh, and I've done bits of Book of the War.
So, my favourite FP stories. Prooobably the first series of audios. I absolutely adore the characters in that, they're so much fun. And the ideas in Book of the War are so absolutely marvellous, as well. Erasing Sherlock was a lovely story, if slightly traumatising in parts. Oh, and Alien Bodies. Gotta love Alien Bodies. Come to think of it, I haven't really done all that much FP, but I know a lot about it due to how much I've talked to FP fans and read the wiki. But still, it's good, I like it.
Anyhow, favourite non-FP stuff. Pratchett, obviously, gotta love a bit of Pratchett. I absolutely adore Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Call the Midwife, I, Claudius, PG Wodehouse, a good deal of children's literature, especially fantasy, good emotionally-driven stuff as well. I am currently enjoying Yeats, and Jasper Fforde is a Pratchett-esque author I really enjoy. Oh, and Douglas Adams, of course. Diane Duane's Young Wizards series is very good, too, and yes, a lot of things, actually. Quite broad, too. Gotta love the classics, like The Secret Garden, Little Women, etc., also really love Dr Seuss and Julia Donaldson, they're old favourites. Monty Python, as well, I'm currently watching that and it's very good. Oh, and Blackadder, Ghosts, Fawlty Towers, and the like. I grew up with Enid Blyton, so retain a soft spot for her stuff, and Winnie the Pooh is wonderful. Yes, so that's a quite comprehensive overview of non-Doctor Who stuff. My favourite Doctor Who stories are probably, in that order, Hell Bent, Human Nature (novel), The Gunfighters, the Web Planet, The Highlanders, and the Underwater Menace, though all of those but Hell Bent are pretty much interchangeable. My favourite Doctor is either 12 or 1, depending on how I'm feeling, 7 is also great.
And yes, that's me, probably, and here we are.
