The next installment is Gramps by Jonathan Dennis. Story synopsis taken from Tardis Wikia: Wesley Erickson's retirement to Florida takes a turn when his cat becomes involved with the three-legged Gramps.

Due to the introduction of the Boulevard in the same anthology, it makes me wonder if the retirement home was an abstract construct within the prison designed personally for Wesley. This story was intended for a prior charity anthology but perhaps it was tweaked a little when Dennis became aware that it would be part of Romance? Somehow Grandfather Paradox was able to project himself inside individual realities - taking on the form of a cat - to try and induct them into the Faction as, although the Boulevard was mainly used for rogue Faction members it was also used as a "dumping ground by a thousand races".

Placing this in a spoiler tag due to mention of a later short story. A lot of the stories in the anthology could be looked at through the lens of being set within the Boulevard and (if you really tried) perhaps every story could be argued to have been set there. Take Tonton Macoute for example: he's a rogue Faction member imprisoned within a living tornado set in a time looped past, this could easily be the Boulevard.

It was only tweaked in so far that I had another couple passes at it because I had more experience by then. I think I posted my wife's illustration somewhere, from when it was meant for the charity book.
