Now we know that at the end of the City’s civil War it was destroyed, but then everyone was revived once more on the other side. What I would like to know is several things: how/who? How were they resurrected or who resurrected them? is it natural or not? Was Compassion herself resurrected In the second city? Avatar was resurrected so are non humans allowed in to the second city or is Avatar just a special case? is it truly in the next universe as it is implied to be? dose any of this have something to with the fact that the Enemy comes from earth?

I think “God Encompasses” (early draft available online) answers many of these questions – at least the bits about who was responsible and how it was done. Just as Compassion turned into the City, she’s taught/created her kids to be able to turn into backups. I assume it’s all humans-only, but you raise a fair point that part of what makes this “far stranger City” far stranger might be the resurrection of non-humans as well, as un-FP as that sounds!

I presume Compassion was resurrected, but not as the city, it’s her retirement plan in effect.

I always thought it was “interesting” that the period “the Cold” was deployed to encyst/destroy was the late 90s and before the birth of Laura Tobin*…
*. Mind you, it’s before the birth of a lot of people including my nephew….

Perhaps each copy of a copy becomes less accurate to the original, as can be seen in fictional cases of clones being copied from clones and somewhere down the line they hardly even resemble the original. Or perhaps some errors can occur during the copying process - similar to the transcription errors from Forest of the Dead that saw Miss Evangelista's disfiguration and increase in intelligence. I would deem these qualities as making the new City "far stranger" even if it was still exclusively human.
