Thinking of starting a group read of The Book of the War using the "Design Specs for Advanced Users" reading order. This reading order preserves the throughlines of stories written by individual writers, and it's a great way to experience the Book for the first time or to revisit it after years of familiarity. (Plus, it's been suggested that this path through the Book, when followed in its entirety, leads to a "90% certain" identity for the Enemy. OoOoOoO!) Loosely, I'm thinking we could do one section from the Design Specs a week, which would split the Book into pretty small chunks and take around 4 months to finish; I'm open to suggestion if that seems like too slow a pace. For those without copies, I'm sure some Cousins can help them get copies or other resources to follow along. Let me know your thoughts!

This is a great idea! I didn't know about this reading order and it seems so much better than just reading in alphabetical order as I have been doing. For anyone without a copy who would prefer a physical one but doesn't want to break the bank, what I did was create a print on demand version from a pdf using Lulu. It worked pretty well and is potentially easier to use than a pdf while also not costing £400.

Sounds good. Which one should we star with? and also when would we read Parablox? Which has no links.

Unanimous so far! Glad people like the idea This weekend I'll post an official announcement thread with the schedule, which I'll advertise in a few places. The announcement will say that people should message me if they need help with access to The Book of the War. (Please also message me if you are willing to help coordinate so as many people as possible can have access. Hopefully we can get the job done without any conspicuous copyright violation; after all, this is a public forum read by many spectators, including some of The Book's authors!) Then discussion will begin the first week of September. I think it makes the most sense to do separate threads for each section; that way, people can still follow along at their own pace if they fall behind, and future readers can chime in when they themselves read The Book down the line. I'll reach out to AloeVega about maybe creating a temporary sub-board to organize these readalong threads. and also when would we read Parablox? Which has no links. Well, there has to be some surprise left for the brave folks who read alphabetically!

I would like to venture into the FP universe better (but I'm already reading the EDAs, if possible, I can read the necessary ones and go to TBOFTW) Obs OBS: I have a digital copy of The Book of the War, but as I don't know English, I have methods to translate

I've never heard that before. *Whistles innocently*Sounds good. Which one should we star with? and also when would we read Parablox? Which has no links. We could do another week at the end to cover such entries. Unanimous so far! Glad people like the idea this is a public forum read by many spectators, including some of The Book's authors!) It'd be nice if they joined in either during or after to clarify a few things. You might have just volunteered yourself as the mod. I never read, The Book of the War, just the beginning. I would like to venture into the FP universe better Wonderful! Happy to have you onboard By jove – what a sight! You're making me think I should print out a copy so I can be less afraid of annotating. Have you gone through the Design Specs reading order already? Maybe you could lend some advice or feedback in the official announcement thread regarding my reading plan? I'll see what I can do about getting some authors to discuss their entries, either as we're discussing, or afterwards in the threads. Oh dear, I've never thought about this before. I feel obligated to pick something unlike my real name, like Eliza says in The Eleven Day Empire or whichever audio that was. Something meaningful to me personally. Uhh… well… I guess Godfather Nate will suffice nicely!

I recommend an A4 spiral bound print out using envelopes as notepaper/bookmarks it's very convenient. I haven't used the Design specs reading order before just standard alphabetical order so I have nothing to add. I've posted the advert on Nitcentral so hopefully Ms. Carter might join us.

This sounds amazing and I'd love to take part (as an "absolute beginner jumping in at the deep end", obviously!)
