Firstly, I'll just tell you to get it if you haven't already as it's fantastic(there are only two copies left) but I'm here to point out the unexpected connection to the War.
The Klade were a species that lived on the Needle and according to a non-existent book, allied with the Great Houses against the Enemy. They pop up in Retrogenesis, or at least a rewritten version of them.
