a Short little things I created when bored. I apologise for any errors.
The Beast of Hours sits at the end of time for that time is but Eleven Days from now, and when that time comes the Beast will devour and space and time will reset. For as the clock ticks on the beast grows strong. For beyond the Empire many strange lifeforms live. From the Bird-like Unkindnesses to things which even Father Stendec will not speak of. These are the first inhabitants of the Empire from the days before the Faction Arrived, and they answer to none, with perhaps the possible exemption of the Grandfather?
And of the unnamed beings, the Beast of Hours is greatest. For It, most defiantly, was beyond even the control of the Grandfather. As the Clock strikes 12 on the Eleventh Day, time reals and the Beast grows larger and the land shrinks closer to the City at its centre.
And on the last cycle she comes, the Mother of Monsters, and she makes a pact she takes the beast's powers for one day and the beast is released out into the universe freed from its place of birth, where it went no one knowns some say it died without its food source but perhaps just perhaps it found a new home, a real home, the universe of the Spiral Politic. Should this be true should it exist here, if it survived and it fed on time, what does this tell us about the nature of the Spiral politic? And what of the Greyness that it leaves behind?
